PATCHWORK QUILTS
Quilting is my hobby! I love to make traditional and modern patchwork quilts. They take time, love, dedication, lots of cutting, cursing and money - and I enjoy every stitch!
In early 2005, after a sad loss, I spent many hours just making quilt after quilt and when I finally decided to stop and take stock - I had 45 of them! It didn’t take me long to decide to donate them to the Children’s Hospital. However, what I didn’t realise was to be able to donate anything to the hospital, I needed to be a registered charity so on September 1, 2005, Inspirational Quilts was established. The Charity makes and donates quilts to the Cystic Fibrosis and Transplant Units at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Heart Kids, and Ronald McDonald House. As a small home-based charity, it was my hope that I would make and donate quilts to sick children and before long I had many ladies around Australia making and sending me quilts to donate. So far the charity has donated over 6000 quilts.
Due to my recent illness, I was forced to cut back on my workload, and have been able to spend more time making quilts, (which I missed) and am enjoying my time creating these amazing keepsakes. However, less work means less funds, so I decided that each time I made a quilt for the charity, I would in fact make two. One would be donated and the other would be sold for a minimal price and the funds would then be used to continue making more quilts to donate. All proceeds from the sale of the quilts below will be donated to "Inspirational Quilts”.
Quilts are made to last a lifetime. A heirloom which children can keep as a memento of childhood. I take great pride in individually making each and every quilt. Because of this, once sold, the design will no longer be available, as fabrics and colour ranges are always evolving. If you don’t see anything you like, I would suggest you bookmark this page, as I am often uploading new quilts - depending on time of course! (no special orders only what you see on this page). All quilts are made using 100% cotton fabrics, soft breathable wadding is sandwiched between the two layers and durable double edge cotton binding to finish. They are fully machine washable (always use a colour catcher) and should be dried in the shade - away from direct sunlight.

While I do my best to showcase the quality and colours in each quilt, unfortunately, I am not a very good photographer and often the bright and bold colours are not very well depicted. I am happy to send more photos on request.

ALPHABET PANEL - This cute alphabet panel makes the perfect baby gift and it’s educational as well. The panel has been surrounded by matching 9 patch blocks to compliment the centre. Fully machine it has been quilted with a meandering stiple stitched on a musk and gold spotted backing fabric with matching binding. This quilt measures 90cm wide x 110cm long and is priced at $85.00
DINOSAURS - We all love a dinosaur and this quilt is absolutely gorgeous. It has been custom quilted with dinosaurs and finished with royal blue backing and binding. This quilt measures 95cm wide x 110cm long and is priced at $85.00
EAT, PLAY, SLEEP, REPEAT - This amazing little quilt makes for the prefect play mat and outlines exactly what each little newborn needs to do to fill their day. Each letter has been hand cut, and machine appliquéd onto the white shimmering fabric, and then custom quilted with meandering circles. This quilt measures 100cm wide x 115cm long and is priced at $80.00
I SPY - VEHICLES AND ANIMALS - This bright and busy quilt makes the most amazing educational gift with its bright squares with different vehicles and animals and is very pleasing to a young child. The back of the quilt has been made up of various prints including a large digging scene, Yoda and elephants. It has been custom quilted with squares and circles and finished with bright red spotted binding. This quilt measures140cm wide by 155cm long this quilt and is priced at $125
EMBROIDERED ALPHABET - This gorgeous embroidered alphabet quilt has been made to suit either a girl or boy. Each square has been embroidered with the alphabet and matching animal. It has been custom with large swirls, with bright yellow elephant print on the back and finished off with bright red binding. This quits measures 100cm wide by 125cm long and is priced at $135.00
FLAMINGOS - This elegant quilt looks stunning with the shaded blue and pinks on a white background. It has been custom quilted with swaying swirls on the same white background and beautifully edged with striped blue and white binding. This quilt measures 110cm square and is priced at $120.00
FLUTTERBY - This stunning quilt is perfect for a young child or toddler, and has been custom quilted with tiny butterflies and swirls. the backing is a bright floral pink with matching binding. Each butterfly has been cut out by hand and then machine appliquéd onto individual blocks. This quilt measures 120cm wide by 165cm long and is priced at $185.00
FLOWER POWER - These gorgeous quilts are very soft and cuddly and perfect for a newborn baby. Each Petal has been cut out by hand, ironed on using high quality heat and bond, then stitched down around each petal with fluffy chenille, which becomes fluffier with each wash.The back has a soft spotty flannel, and it has been freestyle quilted with flowers and swirls. As with all my quilts, it has been finished off with 100% cotton double edge binding. Measuring 120cm x 125cm these quilts are priced at $95 each.
